Excellent quote.

Somebody, and I don't remember who, said that decadence is "the act of condemning phenomena, the causes of which we cherish". Take that and apply it mutantis mutandis to international relations, global ecology, workplace dynamics, IT development... whatever. It works. It echoes what Ike said...

And a guess one possible answer is in something Gandhi said: "you must be the change you wish to see in the world".

Yep, the idea is to have a clear goal, to know that we won't be able to reach it by ourselves but to keep going, without losing hope.
